This 19th-century Wedgwood terracotta jasperware plaque features a white bas-relief molded emblem depicting a military trophy of arms. The central composition includes a plumed bicorne hat resting on a gorget, flanked by two furled flags. Below these elements are two crossed sabers with ornate guards and a buckled sword belt draped across the center. The plaque is set against a deep terracotta red ground and mounted within an oval orange velvet mat. The assembly is housed in an ornate period-style gilded gesso-on-wood frame featuring a continuous border of scrolling foliate and floral motifs. The reverse of the frame is sealed with a black backing board and includes Wedgwood impressed mark along with a circular silver-colored label for the Rubin Collection and a small rectangular paper tag with the handwritten inscription D 1175 over c 1880.
