England, c. 1900–1910
This striking Wedgwood earthenware vase showcases the flowing organic forms and vibrant botanical decoration characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. Hand-painted with large purple flowers, golden yellow centers, and stylized green foliage, the design creates a harmonious composition of color and movement across the softly rounded form. A band of yellow blossoms encircles the shoulder, complementing the slightly flared rim finished with a green glaze to the interior.
The generously proportioned silhouette and expressive floral ornament reflect the period’s appreciation for nature-inspired design and finely crafted decorative ceramics. The combination of bold color, flowing foliage, and softly curved form gives the piece a distinctive sculptural presence.
The underside is incised with the marks “MADE IN ENGLAND” and “WEDGWOOD,” along with a hand-painted number 9. A circular silver collector label for the C.R. Rubin Collection, dated 2016, is also present on the base.
A beautifully decorative object well suited to display on a mantel, console, or within a thoughtfully curated collection of English ceramics. Its vibrant floral design and Art Nouveau character make it an appealing addition to both traditional and design-forward interiors.
