1920s Weidlich Brothers “Proud Peacock” Solid Bronze Bookends — Signed Pair

A striking pair of solid cast-bronze “Proud Peacock” bookends by Weidlich Brothers of Bridgeport, Connecticut, circa 1920s. Each features a sculptural peacock in relief before a magnificent, fully fanned tail, with individually rendered feathers creating an almost architectural circular silhouette.

Both bookends bear the impressed WB maker’s mark, confirming them as an original matched pair. Exceptionally substantial and beautifully cast, they retain a rich, naturally aged bronze patina with warm highlights across the raised details.

A remarkable example of early 20th-century American decorative metalwork—equally compelling as functional bookends or displayed as sculptural objects.

Sold as a pair. Age-appropriate patina and surface wear throughout.

Dimensions: approximately 5¾” H × 4” W × 3½” D each.
